TRAINERS

Below are all the certified trainers that will coach you through all the movements and classes.

Nathan Dowling

CrossFit L1 and L2

High school athlete, recreational lifter, short stint in bodybuilding, lifelong fitness passion. It wasn’t until the first day of CrossFit that Nathan finally felt like he found what he wanted to spend the rest of his life doing, both personally and professionally. Immersing himself into the world of CrossFit, doing double sessions, learning from the coaches, and then getting his CrossFit Level 1 Certification, Nathan left his supportive and encouraging Battle CrossFit Family, and opened Balata Fitness in North Berwick, Maine. Since then, Nathan has continued to keep his passion, and now holds his CF-L2 Certificate.

    Katie Dowling

    CrossFit L1 & CrossFit Kids

Katie’s background was no more than a high school soccer player, who dabbled in home workout videos and group fitness classes here and there, and ran recreationally.  Since being introduced to the world of constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements (CrossFit methodology), she hasn’t looked back. In 2015, Katie obtained her CrossFit Level 1 Certificate, and has coached athletes at Balata Fitness 5-7 days per week since then.  Katie has recently received her Certification in Sports Nutrition through ISSA.

“My favorite thing about CrossFit? It’s perfect for EVERYONE. Regardless of age, ability, or background, if you show up and give it your all, you will see results, period.”

      Jessica Plante

      CrossFit L1 & CrossFit Kids

Jess was a high school and college athlete, and still enjoys playing softball on a women’s league every year. Jess began firefighting full time in 2005, and for years, she was looking for a way to stay fit for her physically demanding job. Since finding CrossFit in 2014, Jess has enjoyed competing in CrossFit competitions, and coaching other athletes at Balata Fitness after receiving her CrossFit Level 1 in 2016. Jess enjoys working one on one with athletes to help them practice skills and goals, and to push their limits.

        Miranda Anderson

        CrossFit L1 & CrossFit Kids

Miranda was never a team sport player, but always enjoyed being a member of local fitness facilities and participating in group classes. Always staying active, but never finding that one area of fitness that she was passionate about. Wanting to try CrossFit but lacking the courage to walk in, it took Miranda a long time to wander through the doors of Balata Fitness. Miranda now laughs at how intimidated she was and says to others who may feel that way, “Just try it. Reach out to me or the other coaches and try it!”

Miranda gained her CrossFit Level 1 in 2016 and wants to use her passion for health and fitness to help people nurture that within themselves.
